If you take Aspirin, or any medications that contain Aspirin, or any medications that thin the blood, and this was not already discussed with us in the office, please contact us before starting this preparation.

These include but are not limited to Coumadin, Plavix, Aggrenox, Effient, and anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Naproxyn, and Celebrex. You must take all your other medications each day, including the preparation day and the procedure day.

7 Days before your exam:

Stop all fiber supplements (like Metamucil, Fibercon) and medications containing iron, including multi-vitamins with iron.

3 Days before your exam:

Stop eating all high fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, and high fiber cereals. Do not eat any nuts, corn or popcorn.

The day before your exam:

You should be on a CLEAR LIQUIDS ONLY diet all day (water, broth, coffee, tea, sodas, popsicles, italian ice, Gatorade, Kool-aid, apple juice, other strained fruit juices without the pulp, hard candy, Jello). Avoid drinks that are red or purple in color. Do not drink milk. Drink as much clear liquids as possible during the day. Do not eat vegetables or soups containing vegetables or beans.

Prepare the MoviPrep by emptying 1 Pouch A and 1 Pouch B into the disposable container. Add lukewarm water to the top line of the container and shake to dissolve. Place the solution in the refrigerator.

Between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. begin drinking the solution. The MoviPrep container is divided by 4 marks. Every 15 minutes, drink the solution down to the next mark (approximately 8 oz.), until the full liter has been completed. Then drink 2 additional 8 oz. glasses of clear liquid. You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish drinking the solution.

After completing the first full liter container, empty the remaining Pouch A and Pouch B into the container. Add lukewarm water to the top line of the container and shake to dissolve. Place the solution in the refrigerator.

On the day of the exam:

Take your morning medications.

Between 4 and 6 hours prior to the time of your colonoscopy, begin to drink the rest of the solution. Every 15 minutes, drink the solution down to the next mark (approximately 8 oz.), until the full liter has been completed. Then drink 2 additional 8 oz. glasses of clear liquid. BE SURE TO DRINK ALL OF THE SOLUTION. You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish drinking the solution.

STOP ALL LIQUIDS 2 HOURS BEFORE YOUR EXAM.

Please make arrangements to be driven home after your procedure; you will not be allowed to drive yourself home.

Avoid drinks that are red or purple in color. Do not drink milk. Drink as much clear liquids as possible during the day. Do not eat vegetables or soups containing vegetables or beans.

Between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. take 4 OsmoPrep tablets every 15 minutes with at least an 8 oz. glass of any clear liquid. Take 20 tablets total (do not exceed 20 tablets on first dose). It is very important that you drink a full 8 oz. glass of any clear liquid with each dose of 4 tablets. You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish taking the tablets.

On the day of your exam:

Take your morning medications.

Between 4 and 6 hours prior to the time of your colonoscopy, begin to drink the rest of the tablets. Take 4 OsmoPrep tablets every 15 minutes with at least an 8 oz. glass of any clear liquid. You must take the remaining 12 tablets. It is very important that you drink a full 8 oz. glass of any clear liquid with each dose of 4 tablets. You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish taking the tablets.

STOP ALL LIQUIDS 2 HOURS BEFORE YOUR EXAM.

Take your morning medications.

Pour one (1) 6 – ounce bottle of SUPREP liquid into the container and cool drinking water to the 16- ounce line on the container and mix well.

Starting between 6 and 4 hours before your procedure drink ALL the solution within one hour.

You must drink two (2) more 16-ounce containers full of water over the next 1 hour

STOP ALL LIQUIDS 2 HOURS BEFORE YOUR EXAM.

Prepare the preparation by picking one of the flavor packets and pouring it into the container. Fill the container with lukewarm water up to the “Fill Line” indicated on the container. Shake well and place the container in the refrigerator. Do not add ice.

Between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. begin to drink the solution. Drink one glass (8 oz.) every 10-15 minutes. ONLY DRINK HALF OF THE CONTAINER. Drink at a pace that is comfortable; if you feel nauseous or bloated slow down. You may start going to the bathroom after only a couple of glasses. You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish drinking the solution.

On the day of the exam:

Take your morning medications.

Between 4 and 6 hours prior to the time of your colonoscopy, begin to drink the rest of the solution. Drink one glass (8oz.) every 10-15 minutes. BE SURE TO DRINK ALL OF THE SOLUTION. You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish drinking the solution.

STOP ALL LIQUIDS 2 HOURS BEFORE YOUR EXAM.
